About First Click Safe Minesweeper
First Click Safe Minesweeper strips the classic away from installers and launchers: open the page, click a square and the board generates itself around your opening move.
The board is generated after your opening click, so your first square and its neighbours are always clear. The rules have not changed since the original. Every revealed square either opens into empty space or shows a number, and that number is the exact count of mines touching it across all eight neighbouring squares.
Use the left mouse button to open squares and the right button to mark suspected mines. Touch users get a dedicated mode button instead of an awkward long press, which keeps flagging fast under time pressure.
Your very first click is always safe. The mine layout is generated after you dig, and the algorithm keeps your opening square and its immediate neighbours clear, so no session ever ends before it has properly begun. Under the hood it is plain modern web technology: React for state, Tailwind for the neon styling, and oscillator-based Web Audio for the ticks, flag clicks, win chime and explosion. There is no plugin, no installer and no account.
Reset as often as you like — every restart randomises a completely new layout, so no two boards are ever quite the same. Whether you are here for a quick distraction or a serious attempt at a personal best, the board is ready the moment the page finishes loading, and it costs nothing to try again.
