About No Flag Minesweeper
No Flag Minesweeper takes the classic mine-clearing puzzle and rebuilds it for the modern browser, with a 16x16 grid, 40 hidden mines and absolutely nothing standing between you and your first click.
Skipping flags entirely is a real speed technique — you hold the mine positions in your head instead. Gameplay is simple to state and hard to master: reveal a square, read the number it shows, and use that count of adjacent mines to prove where the danger is and where it is not.
On a desktop, left-click digs and right-click plants a flag. On a phone or tablet, the Dig and Flag toggle at the top of the dashboard swaps between the two, so touch players get exactly the same control precision as mouse players.
First-click safety is built in. Mines are placed only after your opening dig and never inside the 3x3 area around it, which means every game starts with real information instead of a coin flip. Technically the whole thing is a small React application styled with Tailwind CSS. The page is server-rendered, so search engines and slow connections both receive readable HTML immediately, and the sound effects are synthesized live with the Web Audio API rather than downloaded as files.
When a board beats you, hit reset and a brand new arrangement appears instantly. Improvement here is measurable: the timer never lies. Whether you are here for a quick distraction or a serious attempt at a personal best, the board is ready the moment the page finishes loading, and it costs nothing to try again.
