About Minesweeper Rules
Welcome to minesweeper rules — a complete 16x16 Minesweeper board with 40 mines, first-click safety and synthesized retro sound, running natively in your browser tab.
You win by revealing every non-mine square; flags are an optional bookkeeping tool, not a requirement. The board speaks in numbers. A three means three of the eight touching squares are mined; a satisfied number means every remaining neighbour is provably safe to open.
On a desktop, left-click digs and right-click plants a flag. On a phone or tablet, the Dig and Flag toggle at the top of the dashboard swaps between the two, so touch players get exactly the same control precision as mouse players.
Your very first click is always safe. The mine layout is generated after you dig, and the algorithm keeps your opening square and its immediate neighbours clear, so no session ever ends before it has properly begun. Under the hood it is plain modern web technology: React for state, Tailwind for the neon styling, and oscillator-based Web Audio for the ticks, flag clicks, win chime and explosion. There is no plugin, no installer and no account.
When a board beats you, hit reset and a brand new arrangement appears instantly. Improvement here is measurable: the timer never lies. Whether you are here for a quick distraction or a serious attempt at a personal best, the board is ready the moment the page finishes loading, and it costs nothing to try again.
