About Improve Your Time
Improve Your Time takes the classic mine-clearing puzzle and rebuilds it for the modern browser, with a 16x16 grid, 40 hidden mines and absolutely nothing standing between you and your first click.
Track your times honestly; small consistent gains beat one lucky record. Gameplay is simple to state and hard to master: reveal a square, read the number it shows, and use that count of adjacent mines to prove where the danger is and where it is not.
Controls are deliberately small in number: left-click to reveal, right-click to flag, or use the on-screen mode toggle if you are playing on a touchscreen. The mine counter and timer update live as you play.
First-click safety is built in. Mines are placed only after your opening dig and never inside the 3x3 area around it, which means every game starts with real information instead of a coin flip. Technically the whole thing is a small React application styled with Tailwind CSS. The page is server-rendered, so search engines and slow connections both receive readable HTML immediately, and the sound effects are synthesized live with the Web Audio API rather than downloaded as files.
There is no score to chase but your own time, which is exactly why the game has outlived the hardware it was written for. Whether you are here for a quick distraction or a serious attempt at a personal best, the board is ready the moment the page finishes loading, and it costs nothing to try again.
